I figure that taper week is a good time to tap into my creative energy, do some reflection and get my mind focused on my goals. And you know what that means for Runninghood...Bring out the journals! I have not posted a lot about my running journal lately. In fact, I have not been in much of the journaling/creative mood lately either. I know for awhile there I was including my running journal, personal journal, marriage journal, kids journals, etc. in almost every post. Some of you enjoyed it and were inspired by it and some of you just said "your journals make me dizzy".

Go! Unfortunately I have to wait until Race Day to open this but I know that whatever it is will be the perfect and "just right" something to see before I race. Thanks Dear Friend. |
1. I announced the winners of the Kara Goucher book this morning. Angela, you have no blog or e-mail for me to contact you. If I don't hear from you in 24 hours from when I posted then I'll be moving on to the runner-up! Hope you read this!
2. It's Go Time! I'm feeling excited to get everything done that needs to be done before we head out but I'm in a good spot! Thanks for your e-mails and words of encouragement!
3. Do you keep a journal of any kind? Does it help you get your mind focused and clear? What do you use it for?
Amanda
I started a sort of running/fitness motivation journal/scrapbook thing a while back, but I've been pretty much failing at keeping up with it and adding things to it... I think I might have one or two pages done, that's it. LOL Hmm... I'm supposed to be resting my hip today anyway, so maybe I'll work on it today!
ReplyDeleteAll those weeks of hard work have paid off and it's GO time! I love all the inspirational notes to yourself and quotes from others, I know you will draw upon them out there on the course and they'll help you be strong. Trust Matt, he knows his stuff (I'd never steer you wrong) - I'll be thinking about you out there as I sludge though my bike race. Good luck, I know you're going to do so well!!
ReplyDeleteYou sounds so focused and ready for this! Can't wait to hear how it goes! I always get sick before big races, but it never affects my performance. You will be all better by Saturday! Can we track you for this, or there is not a tracking system? I will be virtually cheering you on and sending postive vibes your way! YOU'VE GOT THIS!
ReplyDeleteYou've got this!!! Looks like you are all ready to go! I keep a running journal and a regular journal. I write in my running journal for every run and my regular journal from time to time. I can't wait to read all about your marathon! I love the signs your kids made!
ReplyDeleteLove your journal! I think it's awesome that you do that!
ReplyDeleteYou are soo ready for the race! Good luck!!!!
My blog has sort of become my journal, but LOOOOVE your running journal/ inspiration book! :) I think I might work on one myself.
ReplyDeleteGET IT DONE THIS WEEK! You will be amazing! You've already done the hard part- now it's time to enjoy the fruits of your labor! :)
P.S. When you have time, would you give a rundown on where you got your super cute running dress and shorts?
I LOVE your journal. I keep a training log, but I think I might have to spice it up after seeing how beautiful yours is!!
ReplyDeleteYou have totally got this! I can't wait to read your race recap in a few days--good luck!!
Hope that run is going awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteOh please send your taper enjoyment mojo my direction, PLEASE!!! You are in the PERFECT place! The calm before the big ass storm you're gonna kick up in like 30 some odd hours!!!!!
I absolutely LOVE the note to yourself in the side of your journal. Smiled SO big at this! One of my favorite quotes by Billy Mills "God has given me the ability, the rest is up to me. BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE!!" You are BELIEVIN'!!!!!
Glad the card made it there:) Wish I could be there to give you a great big hug and tell you in spoken words how excited I am for you! Have a great trip! BRING IT:)
Good luck! The pictures that your kids drew for you are soooo cute! I'll be thinking of you this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI've kept journals in the past. Some are sort of the form of diaries. I've also kept topic specific journals before, like the travel journal that I kept while on my Honeymoon. I haven't ever really kept a running one that's more than a basic log, but I think you have inspired me to start one this summer.
Love your running journal - great idea! Wishing you lots of luck and fleet feet!
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK!! I love love the signs from your kiddos. I had signs waiting for me when I got home and that was really sweet. You've got to be such an inspiration to your girls, especially, and a great model of a strong woman for your son.
ReplyDeleteI've kept journals since grade school, but now my blog is basically my journal. Your collages really call to me, though. One of these days I'm going to sit down and take a breath and look for my own headlines and quotes to pull from. I used to do that in high school to caption pictures we'd taken. Fun! :)
Oh! And I love the signs from your kiddos! Also, the race day attire-! Write to Lululemon and send them a pic, maybe you could review a product or two!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're so ready. Go get it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! You're going to do great!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the signs! So special and enough to melt your heart and add an extra pep to your step this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou've got this girl. I was thinking about you this morning, and I am so anxious for you to experience this race. 24 weeks of amazingly hard work is all going to piece together, and you are going to have an amazing time. You are a speed demon, an ANIMAL, just waiting to unleash all you've got in you.
Your health is in my prayers, and I'm sending you warm thoughts of love and admiration for your awesomeness!
The signs from your kids are precious. They probably mean more to you than the race! If it were me, I would totally frame them. And of course, in twenty years, bring them out and embarrass the darlings!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you!

ReplyDeleteRelax, smile and have fun! You've earned it!!!
Yay! Amanda's Running Journal Post. My favorite kind! Bonus, especially since I've been away for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI have ambivalent feelings about your race. First and foremost, I want you to kick booty and have a great race. But, I definitely don't want to get chicked by a skinny mother of 3 from Portland.
Fine, you win. Have an awesome race. Remember, smile and your body will follow.
shoot, amanda. I thought your race was on sunday or I would have been on here sooner to wish you luck. I'm off to go find out how you did!! I'm sure you killed it!!
ReplyDeletewell, since this race is keeping it old school, i'm just going to have to wait the old fashioned way for your blog post about the race!!! congrats, in advance amanda! you rock.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love seeing people's journals. I think it's really interesting to get into people's heads and give myself some inspiration. Now I wanna get my running journal back out and work on it a little!
