- I'm still reading through your comments about fuel, mantras and hydration during the marathon. Some EXCELLENT advice there. I'm loving so much of it. One that I keep telling myself today is the mantra from Maia from Reasons 2 Run: "You've trained for this". And Britt's words have really stuck with me too:
Your legs are ready for this! You could run a 3:15 in your sleep! You told me something before my last half that really inspired me, to "just enjoy being fast". BEST ADVICE EVER! At my race on Saturday I kept telling myself when the race felt difficult to "define myself". Weird, yes. But it made me make the choice to define myself as a runner who pushes through discomfort rather then throwing in the towel.
I am really excited for you. This is going to be an amazing experience and return to marathoning for you. And to know that you have your little ones there to cheer you on, now that is heart warming!

- All of the advice and comments on this last post are worth reading through if you have a marathon or race coming up! Some great words of wisdom and encouragement!
- I'm really thankful that my "vent" or processing of thoughts last night was well received. Thankful for your stories and words of understanding. I'm now focused on what I should have been focusing on all along...my Saturday Marathon!
- During quiet time with my daughter today, we will be tapping into our creative energy and digging up some pre marathon mojo by doing a little marathon vision collage art in our Journals! :)
Thanks again for all your support! Happy Wednesday! How will you "Define Yourself" today?
Your kids are so lucky to have such an incredible mom. :) They will have so many beautiful memories of spending quality time with you reflecting and making collages. You're just an awesome mom AND an amazing runner. Thinking of you and wishing you the BEST -- although you don't need it.
ReplyDeleteHow do I define myself.. Well I let out a scream like a little girl this morning when I went for my swim. It was FREEZING and I was afraid to complain.... again. Come to find out it was 76degrees! I define myself as unstoppable! Wooott!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to do amazing in your race. So excited for you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Britt said- you shoudl really enjoy being fast. You are fast, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. You are stinkin' fast and you should be proud, confident and relaxed. Breathe deep at that starting line and take it all in.
Did you decide if you're going to wear a hydration belt? Are you wearing music??
Just a few days away! You're going to do great! Can't wait to read about it. Good luck! And remember...
ReplyDelete'Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, an hour, a day, or a year but eventually it will subside and something else will take it's place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever' - Lance Armstrong.
That question today about how I define myself - so timely. I was shopping (groceries - boring) and decided to treat myself. The things I bought? A couple of novels and some bowl scrapers (for baking because I let my electric mixer chew up my other one) and as I walked to the car I thought to myself that I should have bought something for running and my purchases for the day would have been me in a nutshell - a mother (the groceries), a voracious reader, a baker and a runner.
ReplyDeleteHmmm how do I define myself. Stubborn, determined, funny, lover of life.
ReplyDeleteAlso I am very short. But think I am like 6'3".
Good luck in your race, you are going to rock it.
