Friday Quickie

  1. I love Friday
  2. I love wine.
  3. I love wine on Friday
  4. I'm going to be a spectator at the Eugene Marathon this weekend.  So many of you running!  I'll be at mile 18.  Look for me.  Let me know if you want me to hold a sign, water bottles, flash you (Ha, kidding), shout a special phrase, etc. I'm there for you!  I'm excited to see many of you but there is a special somebody who has come to mean a great deal to me that I'm specifically driving down for.  Love you girl!  I've got numbers for Meredith, Tasha and Raina.  Would love your number too if you are running Eugene. Not sure what I'll do with them since my phone isn't so "smart" even though it thinks it is.  I'm super excited to be on the spectator/supporter side of things.  I hope you feel my smile at mile 18!
  5. In all my post-Boston Marathon afterglow, I was honestly entertaining the idea of running the Eugene marathon myself.  Ha!  My new coach put things in perspective for me about that one.  Ha ha.  Not that I could have run it if I even tried.  Not running for 11 days now is a sure sign of this.  What a wise coach who has helped me pull my head out of my a@$!
  6. I had my MRI today.  Results won't be available to me for another few days.
  7. Honestly, I'm pretty peaceful about things right now.  Things are as they are supposed to be.  I'm surprisingly grounded considering I have had little to no exercise the past 11 days.  If you don't count running around after 3 little kids and being an extremely hyper person that really doesn't slow down a ton.
  8. The MRI will show what it shows and I'm prepared for whatever comes through.  I don't think it is anything too severe since I'm moving around quite well despite the aching in my crotch (pubic bone).
  9. So MUCH to be thankful for in this life.  So much possibility.  Even in the moments that catapult us off our desired path.  When one door closes, many more can open.
  10. So excited about being on the Nuun Hood to Coast Team.  I just know that this will be an experience of a lifetime and I will make some lifelong friends in the process.  I've already learned so much about Nuun that has given me a new perspective and appreciation for the product.  Not only is it environmentally friendly by eliminating wasteful plastic bottles, but it just MAKES SENSE when you think about what the athlete needs to stay hydrated and fully stocked on electrolytes (while still being able to take in carbs separately when needed) for the best possible performance. And it is kid friendly so the little sips that my kids insist on taking won't cause them to turn into some shriveled up blob of not-so-good-for-you.
  11. As eager as I am to get back into training and try to BQ before September so that I can be in Boston with so many of you next year, I am enjoying this down time.  I am embracing the moments as they come.  And hoping that I don't have an injury that will keep me from running for too much longer.
  12. Pizza is here.  Time for family movie and pizza night.  One our favorite traditions.
Happy Friday Friends.  Thank you for YOU.  Each and every one of you has touched my life in some way.  Thank you for all your wonderful and supportive words lately.

Amanda

  3. Sounds like a fun Friday night!! I would LOVE to be at Eugene... Running or spectating!! HAve fun! I will be sprinting my heart out in a 5K in the morning. Ughhhh. Not crazy about that pace. Anyhow- enjoy your time off. It seems like everyone is taking some time off these days and I'm tempted to throw in the towel and join them!

    1. Good luck Tia!! Yes, rest that knee if you need to. That body will bounce back quickly after any break. You have the muscle memory after years of competing.

  6. Whatever the result of the scan, you'll run before you know it. In the meantime, enjoy the wine and cheerleading-almost as fun as the read deal!

  7. Wish I was in Eugene! I'm having my Friday night glass of wine myself...in pitch black darkness while the termites are swarming (oh the joys of New Orleans!)...and trying to figure out my brand new smart phone. We went Android. I hate it. My stubby thumbs can't hit the keys. That's what happens when you have toes for fingers.
I will text you my new number whenever I figure my keyboard out.
    Hope the MRI says nothing!
Good thing I'm not your coach. You heard me pressuring you to run Eugene, haha! I have no race self-control and expect others won't either!

    1. Gracie, you had no idea how bad off I really was. In normal circumstances, after an almost 4 hour marathon, I would say Eugene would have been a stellar idea. But not with how my pubic bone aches. :) Love to you my friend!

  14. Oh Eugene! Have fun. I thought about going down there to run too, but online registration was closed, so I'm not. Probably wouldn't have been a good idea for me either. Enjoy spectating. Hope your MRI doesn't say anything too terrible.

Wish I was heading down to Eugene with you! I will try to keep tabs on those I know during the race and give you some text updates!!! Raina will have my full attention. She will be easy to pick out with the green hair for you!

Yes, Super congrats on the HTC Nuun thing! You will have a blast with this!

So glad you got the MRI. I too hope you are given some answers to clear you to start running again soon but in the meantime-great to hear you sounding so happy! Really important to enjoy this time and you are doing this very well!!!

  17. Sounds like a great Friday, Amanda.....While not NEARLY as fast as you, I'm also going through my own post-Boston downtime (gotta work through it!) and had a wonderful date night with my wife last night which allowed me to incorporate a nice Cabernet Sauvignon!

    Have fun in Eugene!

  19. That's fun that you are going to be a spectator! It's fun to be on the other side of the fence from time to time! It's funny that you entertained running Eugene, because I did too...but I haven't trained. All the hype and from what I have heard, Eugene is great, and I almost just signed up on the spur of the moment and drove up there, with only a half marathon distance under my belt lately! Have fun!

  20. You are too funny lady. Hope that the MRI shows nothing serious, praying for you! Don't think I congratulated you on your HTC team acceptance...so CONGRATS! You'll have a great time I'm sure with great company.

  21. Congrats on Nunn HTC! Hope the MRI shows nothing that rest can't cure! Continue to enjoy your down time :)

  22. Oh! I am sending you positive vibes that your MRI comes out perfectly healthy. :-)

And... now that I am no longer pregnant, wine on Fridays is my new favorite part of the week!

    XO.

  23. Reading your posts always reminds me that there's something more I can be doing. This post was a little reminder to be grateful for all the little things and that contentment and happiness can all stem from gratitude.
It's so nice to read that you're in a great place. Have a wonderful day cheering all those Eugene marathoners.

  24. Ahhh wine on Friday - the benefit of not training for a race! Enjoy as long as you can :)

  25. Hope you had a restful weekend with your fam. Thanks for putting all of your running highs and lows out there. You are truly inspiring. I was tracking you during the BM and hoping you would do alright. It sounded like a rough day. Anyway, I recently ran the LA Marathon and it turned out to be a fun experience. I credit a lot of the positive to running blogs I read like yours. I have learned a lot about training, pacing and perspective from your blog. Thanks!

  26. I'm jealous you got to spectate at Eugene-- I'm sure you had a blast! What a blessing to be at peace right now with the MRI and unknowns... hoping for the best for you!

  27. I could have taken a page from your book when I had my femoral stress fracture. It took me a long time to get to a peaceful place about not running... but I did get there eventually. Hoping for good MRI results, and especially hoping for no stress fractures. Thinking about you!

  28. Thank you so much for coming. Means the WORLD to me.
Hope you get a review of the MRI and that it is something that will just heal right up with a little down time. I don't like my friend hurting and I know you enjoy the rest- but not that much!!
Thanks for being such a great friend and being there at mile 18.
