As every runner who has ever suffered from an injury knows... it. feels. AMAZING to be back! I just walked in the house from my first solo run (without pushing a double jogger) since feeling almost 100%. I had every intention of running in the pouring rain tonight. Not because I particularly love running in the cold rain. I don't. But because I didn't have time to get to the gym and back before later plans tonight. Luckily for me, it cleared up just in time for my run. It was me, the night, and the giant rain puddles!
Here is a video taken right before I left. Don't you just love my fancy running clothes?! :) Especially the head lamp...my favorite for running at night.
I don't have a GPS but if I take Google Map Pedometer and match it up with the time on my watch, then I ran in just around an average of 8 minute mile pace. Judging from my inner runner GPS, at least part of the run was in sub 8 pace! I feel Glorious. I know I'm not completely 100% but I'm close. Towards the end of the run I could feel my hamstring start to whisper a few cuss words at me to keep me in check.
I read a few blogs today about people who get up super early to run before their day gets going. I just can't get myself to like early morning runs. It is like my body and mind are still sleeping and I just can't get moving. I especially can't imagine running before I've had coffee! I'll take night runs any day if I had to choose between night and early mornings. What time of the day do you prefer to run?
Oh, and my friend just sent me this article 9 Tips For Your Night Runs
Happy to be back,
Amanda
Love the fashion! I'm an early girl because as time wears on the chances of me getting out or doing anything at all fade from slim to none.
ReplyDeleteFashionista! I'm glad you got back out there!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I DO know just how amazing it feels to be back!!! You are WAY too cute in that video!!
ReplyDeleteI ran for almost 2 months at 5 am before work during my Boston training last winter and then one morning I woke up and couldn't do it anymore. I was UP but I couldn't run. I'm still struggling as when I don't work I love to run around 9 am. When I do work, I often only have time at either 5 am or 10 pm-neither of which are entirely appealing!!
Excited to watch you bounce back here!!!
Mornings just aren't my thing. I am with you on the night running. Glad you are getting back out there.
ReplyDelete8 min mile on your first run back?!
ReplyDeletePeace Out Lady!;-)
Just be safe out there...;-)
awesome! you rock that 8 min. mile run post injury!!
ReplyDeleteI will NOT run before I drink coffee. Even on super early race days, it is a must. I do prefer running in the morning though, right after big kids leave for school, and little kids have eatin and therefore wont screem in the jogger.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! Okay, to clarify, this wasn't my first run since my injury...just my first run by myself since I've felt this good! My first run feeling nearly 100%. :) Definitely was no running 8 min mile pace my first run back!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVED you little video. I could tell how excited you were to run without the jogger stroller. (Who wouldn't want to change diapers while running? lol)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a little chilly here too. I wore LS and my reflective vest and skirt and gloves, but could have been better in tights this morning.
I prefer AMs, but only because when I started to get serious about running, it was the ONLY way to guarantee that I could get in a run without the stroller- leave before anyone else woke up.
I guess it seems safer to leave in the dark morning than to run in the dark of 10-midnight. I always drink coffee before running as part of my morning 30 minute wakeup, (but don't eat until I get back.) I don't care if I have to stop on the road though. :)
Long comment!
Great job on that run and beat back that hammy with the foam roller :)
Cute video! I remember the days of running with a stroller!
ReplyDeleteI like to run mid morning. I get my kids off to school and then go.
Great video. Congrats on being BACK!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for 100%! And I am so like you! I loathe the early a.m. workout! :) I posted yesterday about our natural circadian rhythms (with a little quiz to find yours). Confirmed I'm an afternoon athlete. Bet you are too! :)
ReplyDeleteYay for being back! I always hated getting up early to run. But now I kind of love it (it's still hard to get out of bed though). There is just something about having 4,8, or 12 miles under your belt before most people are out of bed. I have to admit though, if I didn't have a great running partner to meet me or if it wasn't the only time that would work on most days, I probably wouldn't do it.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you are back in action (and just slightly jealous). Great run and I love the video. I need to get me a running lamp!
ReplyDeleteYay for you!! I have one of those head lamps too and I love it for night/early morning running!!
ReplyDeletewhoohoo
ReplyDeleteYay for getting back out there, w/o the jogger to boot!
ReplyDeleteI'm a morning girl, w/o question!
haha! you are too cute! love the video! :D
ReplyDeleteLove the video. I'm an early morning girl, mostly because then I know I'll get it done. I've always kind of been an early riser though... I used to get up at 6am when I was little to watch Little House on the Prairie before school... yeah I'm kind of nerdy like that.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back!
